Victory Theatre

The Holyoke City Council has approved the CPAC's recommendation to award $100,000 to the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts (MIFA) to help restore The Victory Theatre located on at 81-89 Suffolk Street.

This project will fund the historic rehabilitation and restoration of 63 light fixtures (sconces) in this 1600 seat theater built in 1920. The reopened Victory Theatre will serve residents of Holyoke, and the entire Pioneer Valley region as a one-of-a-kind performance venue capable of housing major Broadway tours and cultural performances for the 21st century and beyond. MIFA will use this CPA fund award as a sign of local support to garner additional funding from a variety of other sources to meet their total project cost of 46.8 million. There is no comparable performance venue capable of housing major Broadway tours and cultural performances in Holyoke or the Western Mass region and this project has great potential to benefit the public economically and culturally.
