In 2020, $25,000 was awarded to the Holyoke Solders’ Memorial Commission to fund a restoration study of Lady Liberty Monument in Veteran’s Park.

A restoration consultant provided a comprehensive study of the current conditions of the Lady Liberty statue, evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations for the rehabilitation and preservation of the statue, including lighting the statue and moving a flag added after the statue was intitally constructed. The report developed detailed drawings and technical specifications suitable for public bidding and provided an estimated cost of construction. This study was necessary as a preliminary step for the actual restoration of the monument, which occured in 2022.
