In 2021, $130,677 was awarded to the Holyoke Fire Department for the restoration of its 1935 Mack Fire Truck. This project is scheduled for extensive body work that includes sandblasting of vehicles frame/body, rust removal, dent repair, paint and an upgrade to the electrical system. Also, the chrome plating will be removed, refinished, polished and brought back to its original condition. When the paint and body work is done, it will be decorated with gold leaf lettering and striping from that historical time period. This restored historic fire truck will not only hold significant historical value to the Fire Department but also to the citizens of this wonderful city. Future generations will enjoy this majestic fire truck for years to come. We can't wait to see the restored fire truck in action at the 2024 St. Patrick's Day Parade.
